WILDERNESS FIRST RESPONDER
This 9 day course covering all aspects of emergency medicine, rescue,
and leadership. Taught by Stonehearth Open Learning Opportunities
(SOLO), experts in the field of backcountry medicine, the WFR course
offers certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) as well
as the Department of Transportation’s First Responder. The training
includes a wilderness module designed specifically for backcountry
users and instructors. In addition to medical instruction,
the course contains training in rescue for wilderness, water, rock,
and winter environments. Throughout the program, prevention,
and improvisation in backcountry settings are stressed.

WILDERNESS FIRST AID
- (First Responder Recertification Course) was designed for outdoor
leaders and enthusiasts, this course concentrates on the basics
of wilderness first aid with lots of hands-on practical work. The
course places particular emphasis on preventing backcountry emergencies
through proper trip planning and equipment selection. Instruction
covers patient assessment, long-term patient care in backcountry
settings, environmental emergencies, musculoskeletal injuries and
improvising first aid equipment. Indoor and outdoor sessions
will be included during this two day course.

LIFEGUARDING 101
- This course is designed for the individual who will be supervised
in an indoor or outdoor setting in a water based environment.
Prerequisites include a swimming test. Course format and locations
to be determined. We provide all course materials and equipment,
a safe and friendly environment, knowledgeable instructors and lots
of fun. All those successfuly completing this course receive a certifcate
from the American Red Cross. This course is a minimum of 30 hours
includes practical and written exam. Call for details and prices.
