ABOUT RATTLESNAKE
POINT - In Milton, Ontario, Canada,
this Conservation Area is home to spectacular cliffs overlooking
Toronto & Lake Ontario. This section of the Niagara Escarpment
ranges from 40 to 90 ft. high and is one of several prominent limestone
outcroppings along Southern Ontario. It’s home to Canada’s second
oldest tree species, the Eastern White Cedar (Thuja occidentalis
L.). These trees, some exceeding 1800 years, make up the oldest
forest in eastern North America. This area is a Mecca for rock climbers,
cavers, hikers and all sorts of adventurers. Rattlesnake itself
offers a great variety of top-rope climbing, single pitch lead climbing
and rappelling options from basic to advanced in difficulty level.
Some multi-pitch rock climbing is also available nearby.

Experience the

technique, natural history of the area and give you many hours
of rock climbing experience. All climbing is done on the spectacular
cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment at Rattlesnake Point, Milton
Ontario, Canada. No previous experience necessary. All you
need is a sense of adventure! Course size is just 10 students
with 3 guides, giving you a safe and friendly learning environment
with veteran instructors to guide you every step of the way.
We provide all the climbing equipment, campsite, instructors
and a unique experience that will be yours forever. Offered
Friday & Saturday, 9am to 5pm, April to October. Cost:

size is just 10 students with 3-4 guides. Expect lots of individual
attention along with a safe and friendly learning environment.

of the way. We provide all climbing equipment, campsite, patient
instructors and an experience that they will always remember.
Parents are welcome too! Offered Fridays & Saturdays,

ROCK CLIMBING II |

This 3 day intensive
course is designed to teach you to rock climb responsibly
on your own by learning how to completely set up Top-Rope
systems in a safe and low impact manner in the Niagara Escarpment
climbing areas. Instruction includes knots, proper use of
safety equipment, construction and placement of top-rope &
belay anchor systems, belay principles & methods, climbing
skill development and low impact top-roping. Course includes
hands on instruction, and a practical exam emphasizing safety
and positive environmental ethics for climbing in the natural
world. Prerequisite: Some previous outdoor rock climbing experience
is required. Course location: Rattlesnake Point in Milton,
Ontario, Canada. This 3 day course runs Thursday, Friday &
Saturday from 9am to 5pm May to October. Price includes all
instruction, climbing equipment, camping fees & hot cocoa.

TO LEAD CLIMBING |

This 4 day intensive
course introduces you to lead climbing on the Niagara Escarpment.
We review basic skills and top rope systems. We then learn
traditional protection placement for top-roping, belaying,
rappel anchors and lead climbing. We also cover self rescue,
rappell safety systems, and lead climbing methodologies. Course
emphasizes climber and belayer safety, and low impact climbing
ethics in the natural world. Prerequisite: solid top-rope
rock climbing experience. Location: Rattlesnake Point. Price
includes: instruction, climbing equipment and climbing fees.

in this unique, action packed educational camp. Looking for
something different and exciting? This course is a blend of
natural science, native American history, experiential education
and high adventure in a non-competitive environment. Groups
will enjoy rock climbing and camping at Rattlesnake Point
Conservation Area and spectacular hiking along the Niagara
Escarpment in Milton, Ontario. No experience necessary. We
provide all group camping gear, food, climbing equipment,
experienced guides and instructors and the experience of a
lifetime. We supervise all campers at all times and help your
kids see education in a whole new way. For groups of 16 to

| INTRODUCTION
TO RAPPELLING |
|
This 1.5 day specialized
course includes training and experience in several different
methods of Rappelling as well as self rescue methods, vertical
wall and “open air” rappels. Other instruction will include
equipment use and procurement, knots, improvised equipment,
safety checks, and belaying rappels from above and below.
Special attention will be given to safely setting multi anchor
systems. Wilderness and urban based situations will be addressed
for safety systems and anchor settings. Prerequisite: Intermediate
Top Rope Anchor Setting Course I or II or director approval
is required. Course location: Rattlesnake Point in Milton,
Ontario, Canada. Course is scheduled by appointment only.
